Welder/Fabricator

Our client is a well-established engineering business in St Mary's. They have been operating for more than 30 years and have a skilled and multi-disciplined team that provide complex production services to their clients.

A permanent position within their team has opened up for a skilled Welder/Fabricator, working Monday to Friday (6:30am - 2:30pm). This role will be responsible for fitting and joining, fabricating and repairing metal and weldable material using appropriate welding techniques.

Your new permanent role  - Welder/Fabricator
  • Performing welding duties using appropriate welding techniques
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and work orders and following verbal instructions
  • Setting up and laying out of work using jigs and fixtures
  • Ensuring all work is carried out to quality and specification requirements
  • COmpleting associated documentation
  • Working with Fitter/Machinists to assist in the production of multi-component parts
  • Operating forklifts, hoists, power and hand tools, slings, cutting torches and other equipment as required
  • Mix of workshop and site work
  • Performing a variety of other tasks as requested by the Workshop Supervisor
Selection criteria:

  • TAFE qualifications in light or heavy industry welding/fabricating, sheet metal worker or similar is required
  • At least 2-4 years welding experience (or related field)
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings is a must
  • Familiarity with welding equipment such as torches, torch tips, filler rods, flux, hoses, valves and gas cylinders
  • Stainless steel and aluminium welding experience, or heavy manufacturing experience is an advantage
